The Battle for Online Gambling is still on and hot, even with just a few months left ahead until the full power of the UIGEA law is passed. The fight is equally tough on both sides and the future prospects of online gambling being made legal are still uncertain.
The debatable question is; is the gaming profitable for the state? Even though the whole economy is reeling under the irresistible depression, online gambling is one such area, poker in particular, which has not been affected by the pressure. Online Gambling has already been sending billions of dollars overseas, which in turn can be a positive sign in helping the US Government's budget crisis.
Online poker game in particular, has always been under the questionable glance of the people, both nationally and worldwide, over whether it is a skilled game or a game of luck. Those who are in favor of this game as a game of luck or illegal have been met with heavy odds against their thinking. As, there are many people around the nation, particularly the Poker Player's Alliance, who would want online poker game to be completely legalized. This issue came more in limelight, when Senator Menendez of New Jersey announced his online poker regulation bill.
As the time passes by, more and more people including the lobbyists and legislators alike are looking forward for online gambling to be legalized. Meanwhile, the players will not be affected in any way and will still be entitled to play their games without concern. Come December and online gamblers will come to know the future of their most loved games with the enforcement of the UIGEA law. Infact, there are other issues that require higher attention to be dealt with like health care, as compared to online gambling. What is not known, is that online gambling can be of immense help in funding the state owned health care.
